Sometimes life is so cruel for the man’s best friend with too many dogs are ending up in shelters. While for some of them e new chapter begins since they are adopted, for others the situation turns out to be heartbreaking as the only remaining option is to be put down. As a dog lover, I cry every time when I see a dog in circumstances like this. However, as much as we want to do something to help these poor creatures, sometimes we’re helpless.
For Kala and Keira, two dogs at Atlanta-based Angels Among Us Pet Rescue, the fate seemed to be sealed. They were about to be euthanized as no one wanted to adopt them, even if they were such loving and well-trained puppies.
For the par time was running out, so the volunteers from the shelter tried one last attempt to find them a new home. They shared a photo of the pair hugging on Facebook in their desperate attempt to save them.
“I’m Kala. This is Keira. We’re so scared in here. The people working in the shelters see how scared we are but just told each other that today is our deadline. If no one saves us, someone will take her away from me. I’ll see her as she goes down the hallway. She won’t come back and I’ll cry. They’ll come for me next, and I won’t be as brave,” they wrote in the caption.
And they succeed, as the powerful image went viral in minutes. In less than two hours since the photo was posted on Facebook, Kala and Keira’s savior just stepped in.
“There are no words to tell you how happy we are that these two best friends are safe and together!” the shelter staff said.
Thankfully, these two girls are now happily living in their new home. This story couldn’t have had a better ending!
